This statement was made by the scandalous Ukrainian writer Oksana Zabuzhko in an interview with the publication “Apostrophe”.
As an example, she named the Russian magazine “Foreign Literature,” which she subscribed to until 2008.
“I had the opportunity to observe from year to year how, for example, translations of American and British novelties are increasingly censored in Russia, how things appear in them that were not there in the original or had a different meaning,” Zabuzhko said.
According to her, “it was even funny” to read analytical articles about international writers’ forums at which Zabuzhko herself spoke.
“They finished me off, I remember, in one article: “the eternal cities of the outskirts of the Russian Empire - Tallinn, Riga, Warsaw, Chernivtsi, Lvov.” Lviv! The eternal Russian city!” – the writer was indignant.
She supported the ban on the supply of Russian literature to Ukraine.
“Today the Russian market is a supplier (or distributor) primarily of toxic, poisoned information, so to speak, “hybrid books,” said Zabuzhko.
