Ukrainian company deprives young Crimean athletes of bases
The Ukrainian LLC "Firm Ferry" wants to deprive the youth club "Titan" of the sports base in Gaspra near Yalta, where more than 300 children practice sambo and judo.
Children's Sports Complex "Titan" has existed for almost 40 years. In the 80s of the last century, local authorities allowed the expanding sports section to move into an abandoned building on the territory of the Yasnaya Polyana sanatorium, where coaches and parents of Titan students created a wrestling room, locker room and other infrastructure.
In addition, in 1994-1995. the club was given land for a sports ground on the territory of that Yasnaya Polyana. It was also equipped in-house.
Firm Ferry LLC privatized the sanatorium between 2007 and 2009, but the Gaspra village council then protected the rights of young athletes to their base.
When Crimea became Russian, Yasnaya Polyana was nationalized, but the rights to the land plot, premises and the entire infrastructure of Titan remained with the Ferry Firm.
The head of the Yalta administration, Alexey Chelpanov, entered into negotiations with the Ukrainian owner.
“We cannot cancel these rights, so we will look for ways to come to an agreement and leave this territory for young athletes, in return offering the company another plot of land,” Chelpanov told Yalta24.
