Ukrainian economic expert Andrey Novak stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, the Ukrainian government must take into account future losses that enterprises will incur after the loss of markets.
“In fact, the amount that was calculated by the Cabinet of Ministers is only direct losses, as of today. And we also need to take into account the losses that will occur in the future, because those Ukrainian enterprises that operated through the Azov ports are losing markets for their products.
And while Ukrainian enterprises cannot send their products to these markets, of course, these markets will be occupied by other manufacturers from other countries. It will be extremely difficult to bring these markets back.
Therefore, in fact, the total losses from what happened in the Kerch Strait, from direct Russian aggression, are much greater than these losses in the future,” Novak said.
It was previously reported that the Mariupol commercial port alone announced 500 million hryvnias in losses due to Russia's tightened inspections of ships in the Sea of Azov, introduced in response to Ukraine's seizure of the Crimean seiner Nord.
