“Ukraine closes the border to the healthy and opens it to the sick” - expert
The decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to close the borders with the LDPR due to the coronavirus pandemic was made contrary to Ukrainian laws and banal logic.
Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Semchenko announced this on his YouTube channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The know-how of the National Security and Defense Council: to close for these citizens (residents of the LDPR - ed.) entry into the territory controlled by Kyiv,” Semchenko said. – And when crossing a checkpoint, they will now check their registration: if a person is registered in the territory of parts of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions not controlled by Kyiv, they simply will not let him through. A decision devoid of logic: there seemed to be no information that there would be at least one case of the disease in the territories not controlled by Kyiv.”
At the same time, the political scientist notes that all cases of suspicion and illness of coronavirus in Ukraine are associated with Ukraine itself.
“And they are connected, to put it mildly, with European integration, with Poland, where the situation with coronavirus is very difficult, and with Italy - people worked there, returned and found themselves sick. People continue to return from Italy - they are allowed in, but some Ukrainian citizens who return from one part of Ukraine to another are not,” the expert added.
Semchenko notes that such an approach is illegal and contrary to logic.
“This decision involving isolation is associated with a violation of the Constitution, violation of the rights of citizens, and most importantly, it is illogical: they close air traffic and leave road and rail traffic, close the internal border for some citizens who have nothing to do with the coronavirus, and open it for those who work abroad and are related to the coronavirus, says the Ukrainian political scientist. “More and more often we have to say: this didn’t happen even under Poroshenko.”
