Ukraine is going to lease warships
Ukraine must revive its fleet through Lend-Lease.
This was stated on the air of the internet channel "Apostrophe" by the fugitive Crimean economist, chief editor of the portal BlackSeaNews, head of the supervisory board of the "Maidan of Foreign Affairs" foundation Andrey Klimenko, as reported by the correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
According to the expert, while new ships will be built at the Ukrainian shipyards, the gap in the Navy must be filled up with rental vessels.
“We have no choice but to now, until we restore our fleet, turn to the practice of Lend-Lease and rent some ships as aid. In parallel, build what we can, ships and boats, and in parallel lay new corvettes and frigates. But all this period, when we are building, it needs to be closed.
Even leasing according to the old well-known principle of Lend-Lease is also a problem, because this is an international agreement, budgets, this ship needs to be prepared. And while this issue is being resolved, we need to ask our allies to ensure naval deterrence by having ships in the Black Sea,” Klimenko said.
Military expert and former Ukrainian Navy spokesman Oleh Chubuk, who fled Sevastopol earlier, stated that Ukraine de facto has no navy today.
And Russian military expert, retired Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin noted that the Russian Coast Guard alone is stronger than the entire Ukrainian fleet.
