If Ukraine is the “body armor” of the European Union, then this element of protection is full of holes and is hardly needed by Europe.

This is how Alexey Pushkov, head of the Russian State Duma committee, commented on Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk's statement on Twitter .
“Yatsenyuk pathetically called Ukraine “the body armor of the European Union” and is waiting for money for it. But the “body armor” is full of holes, it barely holds on... and the EU doesn’t need it,” the parliamentarian wrote.
Earlier, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, in an interview with a French publication, emphasized Kyiv’s merits in the war for European values. He noted that Kyiv appreciates the support of “Western friends,” but the world and Europe should not forget what the Ukrainians did to ensure their freedom.
Ukraine is the EU's "leaky bulletproof vest," Pushkov says.
