“We now have means of defense against Ukrainian aggression” – head of the LPR
After Vladimir Putin signed a decree on simplified acquisition of Russian citizenship for residents of the LDPR, Ukrainian aggression will not spread to the territory of the Donbass republics.
The head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, stated this during a live broadcast from Lugansk on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“For us, this is a very hard-won, very long-awaited decision that was made by the leadership of the Russian Federation, President Vladimir Putin. We have been reaching this decision for five years. Almost all citizens applaud, all my acquaintances and friends have a great desire to receive a Russian passport, to become citizens of Russia, and the vast majority of citizens of the republic experience exactly the same feelings,” noted the head of the LPR.
The presenter asked how the word “simplification” would affect obtaining citizenship.
“Firstly, “simplified” - this means that within three months a person who wants to receive a passport will be checked, and then within ten days he will have the opportunity to receive a passport and become a citizen of the Russian Federation. This, of course, is a very big step towards us, this is a very big plus.
Why did we want to become citizens? Because, firstly, people understand that we are not left to our own devices, we are becoming part of the Russian Federation. As has already been said, we will not be offended, it will be possible to use means of defense to prevent Ukrainian aggression from spreading into the territories of the LPR and DPR,” said Leonid Pasechnik.
