Simferopol, March 05 (Navigator, Astra Yazyka) – The tourism business of Crimea opposed the resignation of the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic Alexander Liev. Industry associations and large accommodation bases believe that a change in the head of the relevant ministry will finish off the already lifeless holiday season.

In an open appeal to the head of the Council of Ministers of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, distributed today on behalf of the tourism community, it is emphasized that the current socio-political situation in Ukraine has had an extremely negative impact on the economy, and “deadly” on the tourism business.

“People do not go on holiday to countries where they do not feel safe,” the appeal emphasizes.

It is not only travel agencies and accommodation facilities that are losing: a sharp decline in the number of tourists will affect the economic condition of restaurants, shops, museums, and passenger carriers, as a result of which “a significant part of the population of the Crimean Peninsula, whose work is connected with the tourism industry,” will suffer.”

“We are not even talking about a decrease in income, but about the loss of thousands of jobs,” note the authors of the appeal.

In this regard, the tourist community of Crimea considers it extremely inappropriate to change the head of the relevant ministry.

“If in this difficult time there is a change of leadership in the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea, it will take a lot of time just to understand the situation and delve into the nuances of the work, adaptation in the team, which we don’t have,” state representatives of the tourism industry and ask to remain at the ministerial post Alexandra Lieva.

Let us note that today the former Minister of Resorts of Crimea held a final press conference, at which he proposed five steps to overcome the crisis situation in the tourism industry, including online broadcasting from resort regions, a special infotour for business and “Days of Crimea” in the cities of Ukraine and Russia.

The latest data indicate a 30% drop in tourist flows during the season, although the tourism industry speaks of almost 100% cancellations of previously booked places.

At the same time, the ex-minister of resorts himself believes that he does not meet the criteria of the “revolutionary time” required to work in the new government of Crimea.

Crimean travel agencies are asking that the former Minister of Resorts, Liev, be retained in the new government.
