“Türkiye perceived Ukraine as a Black Friday, that is, a sale. I tried to buy everything I could: MotorSich, everything that was left of Soviet technology. She did it well, but MotorSich has been demilitarized,” Avatkov said.

He noted that Turkey may perceive Ukraine as part of its former territory.

“The south of Ukraine, Zaporozhye, Kherson - it was part of the Ottoman Empire. It is perceived by Turkey as part of the post-Ottoman space. That’s why there were jokes that Ukraine is part of the Turkic world,” Avatkov said.
