Today, Ukrainian society listens to the opinions of illiterate bloggers, not the scientific community.
Infectious disease specialist Vadim Aristov stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication "Apostrophe," as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, answering a question about what to expect from vaccination and when Ukraine will begin it.
“Our approach to vaccination has failed for a long time. This began not only under the previous government, but even before them, when information wars began between the parliamentary committee and the Ministry of Health. Each had their own companies that they lobbied for. Of course, these are information wars. They have desecrated the public’s understanding of what the vaccine is, how it works, and why it should be used for one’s own family,” the publication’s interlocutor said.
“This is the eternal struggle between good and evil, knowledge and ignorance. Unfortunately, with the spread of social networks, every, excuse me, cleaning lady can become a popular blogger. Her opinion, which is not based on long-term education, will weigh as much as the opinion of a scientist,” says the doctor.
He added that he does not see preparations for vaccination on the part of medical institutions.
“This is the most important thing, because, in the end, it is important that on Monday morning, so to speak, this container with the vaccine arrives, and nurse Maria Ivanovna understands how to open it, where it will stand, what storage mode, etc.,” concluded Aristov.
