Just don’t laugh: Ukrainian cinema has been declared a “phenomenon on a European scale”
The Verkhovna Rada ratified the Council of Europe convention on cinematographic co-productions.
“From 2014 to 2019, the Ukrainian film industry has seriously strengthened, and it has been freed from Moscow’s shackles, Moscow producers, it has begun to become a real cultural phenomenon on a European scale,” Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, a deputy from European Solidarity, announced in all seriousness during the discussion.

“Servant of the People” Evgenia Kravchuk said that this ratification had been long awaited, since it is very important to have “the voice of the culture of Ukrainian cinema” abroad.
“Because we see that Russia is using all the levers, not only missiles are flying at us, but propaganda is flying, all these false stories, false films are flying, and we must respond,” Kravchuk said.
Former head of the SBU Valentin Nalyvaichenko supported the initiative to strengthen Kyiv propaganda through cinema.
“The ratification of this convention is also a reason to renew efforts to create an international tribunal. Because documentaries are the collection of evidence for the whole world, for the whole world, for The Hague, for the international tribunal, where we insist and will definitely ensure that international criminals are brought to justice: both the Putin regime and its military command,” ranted Nalyvaichenko, known as long ago recruited by the Americans.
