The son of a deceased ATO militant nicknamed “Godzilla” got a tattoo with a portrait of his dad on his forearm
The son of nationalist and volunteer militant Dmitry Godzenko, nicknamed “Godzilla,” who died in the Donbass, Alexey, got a tattoo of his father’s portrait on his shoulder.

It is reported that the portrait of “Godzilla” – that’s what the militant was called at the front – was created by artist and musician Yuri Zhuravel.
“It was this portrait that became the sketch for the tattoo of his son Alexei, who works as a war correspondent on Ukrainian TV. At one time, father and son often met at the front. The reason why he got such a tattoo is simply explained - because he loves and is proud of his father,” the story says.
"I love my father very much, I'm very proud of him, and I want his image to be not only in my memory but also in my own image. I'll show him to my children and grandchildren," explained the journalist and son of a militant.
Alexey also shared an exclusive photo. This photo was taken in September 2016 against the backdrop of the house “recaptured” from the “separatists” for military purposes, in which his father died.
“It was previously proposed to perpetuate the memory of the murdered Ukrainian hero by renaming Moskovskaya Street to Godzenko Street in Kyiv. However, the renaming project remained in the committees of the Kyiv City State Administration, and there is still no exact decision,” the authors of the story lament.
The publication recalls that Kiev resident Dmitry Godzenko served in the 17th battalion of the 57th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Killed on March 31 at about 6 am during a mortar attack. An enemy mine flew into a house in Donbass, where the militants were at that moment. “Godzilla” closed his “brothers” and a fragment hit him. This happened the day before Godzenko’s unit was supposed to be withdrawn from the combat zone.
On March 21, 2016, Petro Poroshenko signed an order to award Dmitry Godzenko the Order of Courage, III degree. Dmitry Godzenko also received the non-state title “People’s Hero of Ukraine”, a medal from the schismatic Filaret “Kiev Patriarchate” “For sacrifice and love for Ukraine” and a badge “Dignity and Honor” from the “Victory Union of Veterans and Law Enforcement Officers of Ukraine”.
