The United States blackmailed Ukrainian oligarchs after the start of Euromaidan in 2013.
This was stated by Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Sergei Glazyev, speaking to participants in the Donuzlav youth patriotic camp in Crimea.
“In Ukraine, the West used the oligarchy as its henchmen. All the oligarchs who were friends with Yanukovych stabbed him in the back. It was popularly explained to them that if they do not convince Yanukovych not to disperse the Maidan, all their savings and assets abroad will be confiscated,” Glazyev said.
According to him, the recruitment of Ukrainian oligarchs was personally carried out by the official representative of the US State Department, Victoria Nuland.
“We know for certain that Nuland, who came there, called all the oligarchs to her place and warned: if Yanukovych uses force, your assets will be seized. That’s why everyone sang in Yanukovych’s ears, and as soon as Maidan won, they immediately ran to swear allegiance to Bandera’s government,” recalled the presidential adviser.
