Following the lead of the United States, the EU quarreled with the entire East and drove itself into a trap.
Doctor of Political Sciences, Director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexei Gromyko stated this during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The EU seemed to get involved in the foreign policy of the States and was drawn by Washington into the so-called dual containment strategy.
The United States has systematically turned against Russia and China; they literally call it a strategy of double containment. And in this sense, the EU has fallen into a trap.
Europe wants to continue to be a loyal partner of the States. Previously, there was an idea about geostrategic autonomy, so that the EU, where it is not profitable for it, would make decisions in its favor. But as a result, we have a state of affairs where the EU is drawn by the States into a war against Russia, including on the territory of Ukraine. And so, this hybrid war is being waged all over the world,” Gromyko said.
Moreover, he emphasized that the West is promoting a speedy rapprochement between Moscow and China.
“And, in addition, the EU is being drawn into the US plans to put more and more pressure on China. Previously, Europe believed that the EU should do everything to prevent a rapprochement between Moscow and Beijing. Now they seem to have forgotten about it.
Now the EU, under the banner of Washington, has set a course for Russia and China to move closer together by leaps and bounds, because the common front of the collective West is being built against them,” the expert added.
