US will continue to arm Ukraine to “achieve peace” – State Department
The United States is arming and financially supporting Ukraine so that it can take the most advantageous positions on the eve of negotiations with Russia.
US State Department spokesperson Andrea Kalan stated this in an interview with Obozrevatel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The United States continues to provide assistance to Ukraine so that Ukrainian military forces can fight, occupy the strongest position on the battlefield, and we see that they are successful. We saw the counter-offensive and how it worked very effectively, and we will continue to help. The goal is to end this war,” the State Department official said.
“President Zelensky said that the only way to end this is through diplomacy. Unfortunately, we do not see that Putin is ready for diplomacy, despite some statements that we hear from the Kremlin, the Kremlin’s actions indicate that Putin intends to continue aggression against Ukraine.
But then, when the time comes to sit down at the negotiating table, the United States wants Ukraine to have the strongest position. That is why we are helping so that Ukraine now has the strongest positions on the battlefield,” Kalan said.
