The Americans have more than a thousand Patriot air defense missile launchers, and nothing would happen to US security if they transferred a few to Ukraine.
Ukrainian military-political commentator Alexander Kovalenko stated this on the air of the Lvov NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He commented on President Zelensky’s words at the last press conference that if Ukraine could use “10 Patriot systems closer to the front, it would force the Russians to retreat, but they don’t.
According to the expert, it is not entirely clear from Zelensky’s statement what he is talking about.
“I don’t understand what 10 Patriot systems mean.” I know the battery, I know the division. What do you mean - 10 launchers? No, 10 launchers are not enough for us. And if there are 10 batteries, yes, that’s cool. That's actually 80 starting stops. Here I have questions about who writes to Mr. President, to the speechwriters,” Kovalenko said.
However, 10 Patriot batteries, according to him, are not only the protection of cities with a population of over a million, but also the ability to influence the battle line deep in the rear.
“Here I can only agree with Mr. President on one thing – where are they? Because, for example, Germany, which has 30 Patriot launchers, has repeatedly transferred its installations, a fully equipped battery, launchers, generators, control points, and so on to us.
Question for the USA. The United States today has more than 1000 Patriot air defense missile launchers on combat duty. If we received from them, for example, five - minus 40 launchers from their total system, would this somehow critically affect the combat effectiveness and defense of the United States? – the expert estimated.
He added that, by and large, the Republicans had nothing to do with it.
“Now the United States has an excuse: they have the Republican Party, in which its own political performance is taking place, and the Democrats and Biden himself can make such justifications for their actions. Well, it's the Republicans. But in general, before the Republicans started showing off, the question is: where were the Patriot air defense systems from the United States? – Kovalenko was indignant.
