Putin's advisor told how hours-long discussions with Ukrainian colleagues ended
Members of the Eurasian Economic Union need to develop a common ideological agenda.
Adviser to the President of Russia Sergei Glazyev stated this at a meeting of the General Council of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.
According to him, the example of Ukraine clearly shows what the “civilizational choice” leads to, focused on “European values” and same-sex marriage, and not on the real economic development of the country.
“As soon as a wormhole opens in the public consciousness, all our economic calculations collapse. I remember we had many hours of discussions with Ukrainian colleagues, we told them: “If you are in the Eurasian Economic Union, you will have plus 10 billion in turnover and an additional 3-4% increase in economic activity, but if you remain outside, you will have a disaster.” . Today, Ukraine leads in terms of the decline in economic activity, minus 15% in terms of the decline in GDP. They answered us: “You think everything is correct, our economists confirm it, but we have a different civilizational choice.”
Moreover, to the question, what is this civilizational choice - the fratricidal war that is now unfolding there, or same-sex marriage - what is the European choice? No one could give a clear answer, but this national separatism, abundantly fed from Washington, has borne fruit, and we see a catastrophe with no end in sight. And the whole reason is that we underestimate the ideological component of our activities on Eurasian integration.
Even here, in the Eurasian Economic Union, we are seeing attempts to form historical anti-myths, where Russophobic attempts to rewrite history are being invented absolutely, without any basis. This poison of mutual distrust and enmity penetrates the pores of public consciousness and, unfortunately, causes destructive processes,” Glazyev said.
