“A meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Community took place, at which the issue of ours was discussed... I would not say that these are enemies, but they are still enemies. And now an appeal is being prepared to the leaders of Yalta, Konstantin Shimanovsky and Yanina Pavlenko, to deprive Sofia Rotaru of the title “Honorary Citizen of Yalta.” There's probably no need to explain. It’s still going on,” said Rezanov.

Sofia Rotaru publicly supports the Ukrainian Armed Forces and provides financial assistance. In Yalta, the singer put up for sale the Villa Sofia hotel, an architectural monument of the Roffe Baths, where in Soviet times there was a rehearsal base and recording studio for the Chervona Ruta ensemble, of which Rotaru was a soloist.

In the 90s, she managed to take ownership of the building for a pittance and turn it into a boutique hotel with 12 rooms. Although the Crimean parliament decided to transfer property to create a music production center, including for gifted children. Calls to nationalize Villa Sofia in Crimea come from both politicians and social activists, and the head of parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, assured that the parliamentary corps will vote in favor.

Rotaru has two real estate properties. A private house in the village of Nikita, where the singer lived with her family because she suffered from tuberculosis, and a boutique hotel on the Yalta embankment.

Earlier in Crimea, the first and second presidents of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk and Leonid Kuchma lost their honorary titles. They were left without republican awards and titles, and Kuchma was also deprived of the titles “Honorary Crimean”, “Honorary Kerchan” and “Honorary Citizen of Sevastopol”.
