“Schizoid politics”: Kyiv’s military panic played in favor of Nord Stream 2 – expert
Europeans are frightened by Ukraine’s military rhetoric, and this, among other things, is the reason for Germany’s support for Nord Stream 2.
An expert on international and domestic politics at the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, Yuriy Romanenko, stated this in a conversation on Politeka Online, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“We are constantly pursuing some kind of schizoid policy, when we say one thing and do another. By the way, this is the root of our problems, because Ukraine always says: “war, war, war! We are at war!” What does German business do when it hears such messages from a country through which gas pipelines important for the European economy run?
Of course, the Germans are thinking about how they can hedge risks. And our rhetoric about the war makes them think about this, and, as a result, they have additional motivation to pull out the Nord Stream.
We either need to lower this rhetoric, because it no longer works, or we need to develop our economy so much that it is more profitable in terms of receiving some benefits than the Russian one. Because the Germans, the French and everyone else sit with calculators and proceed primarily from how they satisfy their needs, their interests,” Romanenko summed up.
