Miners threaten joint rallies with teachers and doctors in Kyiv
About fifty heads of trade union organizations of miners from different regions of Ukraine gathered today at the Ministry of Energy building in Kyiv. The miners came to hold a meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Independent Trade Union, but they were unable to get inside, so they had to hold an open meeting right at the doors of the Ministry of Energy. It was noted that the Third Congress of Miners of Ukraine did not provide answers to the miners’ questions and did not solve their problems. The miners also decided to continue the meeting the next day, April 29, together with representatives of teachers, doctors and other professions.

“We will make a joint decision on what is happening in the country - tariffs, utility bills, depreciation of the national currency, the protection of people,” said trade unionist Mikhail Volynets.
After this, the miners went to the tent city, which they had previously set up at another entrance to the ministry, and held a rally there.
“This week, the miners intended to resume mass protests in the center of Kyiv, but did not do so. “We were promised that there would be negotiations. We were asked to ease the pressure in order to negotiate constructively. But we were deceived,” said Mikhail Volynets.
He did not rule out that mass protests would be resumed in the near future.
