SBU officers drove a detained Ukrainian officer to suicide
An officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who did not support the policies of the Kyiv authorities, was detained on charges of theft of material and technical equipment, after which he committed suicide in a SBU cell.
This was announced by the official representative of the People's Militia of the LPR, Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In particular, he noted another fact of the inhumane attitude of the Ukrainian special services towards military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, recorded in Severodonetsk.
Marochko recalled the information announced this week about the detention of officers of the 10th and 54th brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the SBU counterintelligence for various crimes.
“According to official data, these crimes are related to the theft and subsequent sale of technical equipment and weapons. However, in fact, the reason for the close attention of the special services was an objectionable political position and negative statements addressed to the current Kyiv government,” said a representative of the republic’s defense department.
He added that just today information was received from a source in the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade about the fate of one of the detained servicemen.
“Unable to withstand the bullying and moral and psychological pressure from the security service representatives, the deputy battalion commander for moral and psychological support, Captain Nikolai Dmitrievich Kovchug, born in 1984, committed suicide in the guardhouse cell,” Marochko said.
In addition, he noted that the brigade command, intending to hide the true circumstances of the incident, had already informed the JFO headquarters about the death of a serviceman as a result of kidney failure, and employees of the counterintelligence department hastily destroyed all traces of the detention of the deceased.
