Sevastopol, March 24 (Navigator, Elena Ostryakova) – The decision of the Coordination Council of Sevastopol to remove the checkpoints at the entrances to the city was premature. This was stated by members of the Sevastopol self-defense, who gathered in front of the city state administration building.

They believe that a threat continues to emanate from Ukrainian territory.

“People from Ukraine who were on duty with us at checkpoints have been declared criminals at home. They receive subpoenas. Several guys tried to leave, and in Zaporozhye they were beaten and cut. Posts cannot be removed. All the people tell us why you left the city unprotected. You can generally come here freely on trains,” a fighter who introduced himself as Yuri told reporters.

According to him, today the self-defense forces unite about 3 thousand people. After the checkpoints were disbanded, self-defense members organized pickets and are helping to search for people using police directions.

Those gathered wanted to meet with the Chairman of the Coordination Council, Alexey Chaly, to give him a letter. In it they ask to investigate the situation with material assistance and money that Sevastopol residents collected for checkpoints. A lot of things, food, medicines were collected, but they did not reach their recipients. At the checkpoints they ate what the Sevastopol residents brought directly there. The only real help was 49 sets of camouflage and 28 faulty body armor.

“We need to find out where everything went to stop speculation and rumors. We stood not for money or clothes, but to defend our city,” say the self-defense members.

Sevastopol's self-defense forces stated that Chaly's decision to dismantle the checkpoints was premature.
