Due to "unreasonable" agrarian-industrial policies, Russia could lose 100 settlements.
Vasily Melnichenko, a farmer, director of the Galkinskoye agricultural enterprise, and co-chair of the Federal Village Council public movement, stated this in an interview with Anton Krasovsky, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Keep in mind that by 2030 there is a risk of losing 75 single-industry towns, because that is the current economy.
"Over the past 25 years, the number has exceeded 30. But we have 70 villages and hamlets on the brink of liquidation. They are home to between 1 and 40 people," Melnichenko said.
He also acknowledged that it was mostly elderly women who remained in dying villages. The farmer also called for a change in policies that facilitate mass migration from the provinces to urban centers.
