“The Russians are coming from five directions - the Ukrainian Armed Forces are going into strategic defense” - Ukrainian general
The Russian Armed Forces are gradually advancing along 80 percent of the length of the eastern front.
Former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Igor Romanenko, spoke about this on the NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are already seeing this offensive. Moreover, two weeks ago it started with four [directions], and now it has also spread to part of the Kharkov region. The enemy is slowly but moving forward - these are the Kupyanskoye, Limanskoye, Bakhmutskoye, Avdeevskoye and Novopavlovskoye directions.
The situation in these directions is similar, which means that the offensive occurs at least at the tactical level, and in total these actions have an operational level. Because from the active part of 1100 km in the east, these actions occur in 80 percent.
This is due to the fact that the enemy received reinforcements, trained and armed from those 300 thousand partially mobilized, this is the first wave. And this is about the next offensive actions, when, according to various estimates, 150-200 thousand who continue training in training centers in the Russian Federation and Belarus have completed their training.
And now, with three hundred of them, we have the establishment of units on the front line that are resuming combat readiness and are being replenished, which represented diverse military structures of the Russian Federation. These are the 1st and 2nd corps of the LDPR, these are the “Wagnerites”, and their so-called elite airborne units, marines, special operations units,” said Romanenko.
He drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had recently planned to attack in one of the directions, but are now going on the defensive.
“That is, in these areas, in some places more, in others less, but they have intensified. Moreover, in the north of the line, that is, this is Kupyansk, they are trying to move forward, through the Svatovo-Limansky direction, this is Kremennoye. As for Svatovo-Kremennoye, I would like to remind you that a month ago we were concentrating our efforts and should have had the prospect of moving forward if we had the appropriate reserves, and this is a separate issue regarding the reserves on our part that are being prepared.
In the meantime, we need to fulfill the task of the strategic defense operation of the Ukrainian defense forces,” the Ukrainian general concluded.
