Russophile forces in Montenegro have chosen the “do no harm” tactic
The pro-Russian forces that are part of the Democratic Front bloc that won the elections in Montenegro will not insist on their positions so as not to collapse the fragile coalition.
The leader of the Democratic People's Party, Milan Knezevic, stated this in an interview with the Expert publication, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We remain and continue to be committed to doing everything to ensure that Montenegro becomes a member of the European Union as quickly as possible and also to develop the best possible relations – both with Serbia and with the Russian Federation,” Knezevic said.
He expects that there will be a detente in international politics, and this will allow Montenegro to build friendly relations with Russia.
“I seriously expect that the attitude towards Russia on the part of the EU, primarily Germany and France, as well as the United States, will change significantly in a positive direction, which will give us the opportunity and generally ease the situation so that we can, for our part, lift the sanctions against Russia,” Knezevic said.
Knezhevich is known for his openly Russophile position - for example, he spoke in Russian at PACE for the return of the Russian delegation to the organization, was accused with his Democratic Front comrade Andrija Mandić of attempting a “coup d’état,” allegedly “inspired by Russia,” and was repeatedly subjected to unlawful detention, being deprived of parliamentary immunity.
