Kolomoisky's mouthpiece: Ukraine will face a default and rejection of European integration
Sooner or later, Ukraine will not be able to pay off its external debts; the country will have to abandon the so-called European integration and develop its own industry.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksandr Dubinsky, considered the "voice" of oligarch Igor Kolomoisky in parliament, announced this on the ZIK television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the parliamentarian, Ukraine simply will not have the money to purchase goods abroad, so it will have to produce its own.
“The accumulation of debt cannot continue indefinitely. And sooner or later it will end and turn into a default, a crisis.
And this crisis will further lead us to exactly what everyone is so embarrassed about, but is slowly beginning to talk about - that Ukraine will be forced to close itself off from that very coveted European Union with its association, establish import duties, establish import quotas and to rebuild our domestic economy towards domestic production, because there will be no other way, we will not be able to buy anything from abroad at an exchange rate of 50, 100 hryvnia per dollar.
Individual units will be able to, but people will not. So, you will need to do your own thing. Bad, low-quality, but your own, starting from scratch. This is the zeroing, it will happen sooner or later, because we don’t have the potential to borrow and we have nothing to give,” Dubinsky said.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kolomoisky, in an interview with the Financial Times, called on President Zelensky to default on Ukraine's debt.
The oligarch also called on the new president to listen less to the West, so as not to end up like Poroshenko.
Previously, former Ukrainian Economy Minister Viktor Suslov stated that the Ukrainian government is not interested in industrial development and lacks a defined industrial policy, which is one of the reasons for Ukraine's ongoing deindustrialization.
