Statements about the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus are an element of military pressure on the West
Ukrainian military expert Dmitry Snegirev stated this, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent.
He says there is no reliable data yet on the movement of Russian nuclear weapons to Belarus.
“Western countries have sufficient capabilities to track the movement of nuclear weapons. If this had happened, there would have been clear statements regarding the violation by the Russian side of the treaty on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. And there would be no double interpretations here,” Snegirev told Gazeta in Ukrainian.
In his opinion, the Russians are making it clear about possible scenarios.
He recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus will be under Russian control.
“What is the point of all these statements - supposedly we are not talking about a violation of the contract. That is, there will be no transfer to a third country. Tactical nuclear weapons have a limited range,” the analyst notes.
The publication’s interlocutor draws attention to the fact that all these statements coincide in time with the holding of joint military exercises with Russia on the territory of Belarus.
“This is an element of military pressure. Russia shows that it is considering the scenario of breaking through a “corridor” between Belarus and the Kaliningrad region. Then the very fact of a possible redeployment becomes clear - in order to create conditions for a successful offensive. And here it is important - the Wagner PMC remains in Belarus - 4,5 thousand mercenaries. We see several levers of military-political pressure on the West at once,” Snegirev summed up.
