Russia is ready to give the most decisive rebuff to Internet corporations – Zakharova
If transnational Internet giants continue to pursue anti-Russian policies and do not return to the legal and moral channels, Moscow will be forced to take the most stringent measures to protect itself.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“When it all just started with social networks, Internet platforms, video hostings, everyone was interested in playing this and making money, because money is a very important factor in this whole story, no one cared about this: “Just think about the rules of the community, they are for limits are not exceeded." Everyone started playing it, promoting content, making money.
Then suddenly everyone realized that monsters were appearing before our eyes. But while these monsters were friendly, they were large, they had a large circle of coverage, but at the same time they did not attack or threaten, more or less they played by the traditional rules and did not obey anyone, these rules were similar to what We’re all used to it,” she said.
However, according to her, Internet giants not only gained the opportunity to influence the life of every person, but also turned out to be closely connected with the surveillance technologies of Western countries and transnational corporations. In fact, they received opportunities unimaginable for any state in the world.
“And most importantly, they are not subject to any legislation - neither supranational nor intranational,” Zakharova added.
Then large network companies began to interfere in the internal political affairs of other states, pursuing a policy of Russophobia and division of society.
“The question arose: what to do about it. They do not fall under any legislation - not under existing international legislation, they do not fall under our national legislation.
Then intensification began in this direction, many thanks to Roskomnadzor and our legislators, who united, because the legislative branch cannot be separated from the executive branch, especially when there is an “information tsunami.”
This is not just interference, but management of internal political processes, at the expense of private companies, using appropriate technologies,” Zakharova said.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that this problem must be solved, and it is unacceptable to show excessive liberalism and democracy here.
“Our thoughts should be bright and high, and at the same time, we should think about ourselves. Because it is impossible to allow a situation in which we proceed from high ideals, and our partners will do everything in practical terms in order to defend themselves on the one hand, and attack us on the other.
Therefore, the formula here is simple: if everyone returns to the concept of the primacy of freedom, we are not only ready for this, we have already managed to be in this. But if we see the results of this activity, we play with people who violate these rules, then of course we need to defend ourselves and defend ourselves,” she concluded.
