Russian political scientist: Either we start issuing passports in Ukraine, or there’s a big war
Ukraine's neighbors should bring Kyiv to reason by starting the mass issuance of their passports to compatriots in the former Soviet republic, whose rights are now being violated by the nationalist regime that came to power as a result of a coup.
Russian political scientist Ruslan Ostashko said this on air on the NTV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have a strange situation where in Ukraine they are trying to push the real world into this Ukrainian paradigm. Usually the opposite happens - they try to adjust the paradigm to the real world, but here the reverse process occurs, and there is no good way out. Therefore, unfortunately, we do not see any short-term solutions to the situation.
I believe that everything here will either end in a big war, or Hungary, Poland, Romania and Russia should distribute passports and encourage Ukrainian citizens to receive those passports in the language of the country they want to speak,” the expert concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky previously called from the State Duma to issue Russian passports to people from Donbass and Eastern Ukraine within two months.
