From May 1, the Kherson region will become a ruble zone. The transition period will take four months, but for now the ruble and hryvnia will circulate in the region.

This was reported by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Crimean government and the republic's permanent representative to the President of the Russian Federation, Georgy Muradov, on his Telegram channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The former Ukrainian territories of Northern Tavria are switching to payments in rubles. Payments in rubles, as well as simplification of import and customs procedures, opens a window of opportunity for agricultural producers in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to resume work with Crimea,” Muradov said.

According to his information, cargo trailers with Kherson strawberries come to the Privoz wholesale market in Simferopol twice a week. As a result, the purchase price is reduced, which small retail traders are very happy about. The Yalta administration is already preparing permanent venues for the Kherson Fairs program. The first such fair will soon open in the area of the bus station.

Against this background, suppliers from neighboring Kuban are losing their positions. At the start of the resumption of supplies of Kherson vegetables, resellers bought the entire cargo in bulk to keep prices down. But as volumes increased, this became impossible. Moreover, Kherson agricultural products may soon penetrate through the Crimean Bridge to the mainland, squeezing out local producers. Kherson farmers are currently exempt from taxes and rent, which makes their goods much cheaper.

In the Zaporozhye region there are no payments in rubles yet. Local farmers are thinking about how to harvest the crop under the threat of flying in; many have decided not to go out to plant sowing.

“The reasons are simple - the risks of crop loss due to provoked arson of the existing DRGs of Ukraine, and possible accidental arrivals,” wrote former Minister of Transport of Crimea Anatoly Tsurkin, who is in Melitopol, in his telegram channel. “It is necessary to think now about harvesting winter crops, the main thing here is the supply of fuel, which requires an additional increase in volume.”
