“Russian school textbooks are monstrous - Russophobia and extremism” - historian
In Russian school history textbooks, extremist terrorist movements and heroes of anti-state coups are still praised, and all Russophobic and atheistic mythology is veiledly preserved.
Doctor of Historical Sciences Arkady Minakov stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We need to carry out a radical reform of history education in relation to our own Russian history. Our textbooks, I say this responsibly, are terrifying. These are not textbooks. These are, at best, books for reading that are not digestible.
Unfortunately, in our country, history and history teaching do not fulfill the most important functions. They do not form or extremely weakly form national identity, Russian identity. And this is the fault of our academic institutions, methodologists, and teachers. Our textbooks, our historical consciousness are monstrous,” Minakov said.
“In principle, our textbooks, although they are different, are all equally bad and even harmful. They are based on this revolutionary liberation mythology, liberation tradition. Where, relatively speaking, the role of the Russian people or the idea of the trinity of the Russian people is by no means carried out. Where the history of the destructive, extremist terrorist movement is still mythologized and exalted, where the heroes of popular anti-state riots are presented as positive characters, where materialistic, socio-economic schemes dominate, which were initially methodically designed to form, first of all, a godless, atheistic, materialistic consciousness. Our educational literature is still built on these foundations. All the destructive Russophobic mythology, albeit in a somewhat sanitized form, is preserved in them,” he noted.
“And until we get rid of this legacy, we will not be able to carry out any radical denazification in Ukraine. Even when she is released, even when victory is won, even when Nazi criminals receive their well-deserved punishment, and the range of all legal measures developed back in 1945 will be applied to them. This is too little. We need to change consciousness. We need to cultivate national identity, and the main thing here is school,” the historian explained.
