Putin harshly raised the issue of elections in Ukraine
Vladimir Putin made it clear to the United States and European countries that the re-election of Petro Poroshenko for a second presidential term in Ukraine is unacceptable for Russia.
Political strategist Dmitry Dzhangirov said this on the YouTube channel “Topinform”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
"Russia won't support any [ Ukrainian presidential candidates – editor's note ]. The British are ready to support Poroshenko, but very passively. For a simple reason: due to Brexit and other nonsense, their policy towards Ukraine is inert. It's just that no one is doing anything about it.
In general, for Merkel this (Poroshenko - editor's note) is an unacceptable figure. Macron doesn’t care, but he’s like Merkel,” the expert noted.
“Putin’s influence on elections is indirect. It lies in the fact that Putin very harshly posed the question to the Americans and Europeans: “As long as there is Petya, there will be no progress. Decide, if you are interested, do it, but we will not negotiate with him.”
Some people don't care. Someone thinks that issues need to be resolved, so if Petya “oops,” then there is no need to interfere in this.
And the Americans have very clearly shown that they do not value Petya,” the expert concluded.
Putin has taken a hard line on the Ukrainian elections.
