Putin clearly sees the growing contempt of the Ukrainian people for Zelensky
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s delay in the settlement in Donbass causes disappointment not only in Russian, but also in Ukrainian society.
Political scientist Alexander Bulavin told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this, commenting on criticism of Zelensky’s policy regarding the settlement in Donbass, which was voiced in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech at the annual press conference.
“As far as Donbass is concerned, Putin did not say anything new. He confirmed Russia’s firm position in a situation where serious problems remain in Donbass - Russia will support Donbass both socially and economically.
As for his attitude towards Ukraine, Putin largely repeated what Russian Interior Minister Sergei Lavrov has already repeatedly expressed recently - there is no significant progress in resolving the conflict in Donbass. Representatives of the Office of the President of Ukraine themselves spoke about this, including Bogdan in his sensational interview.
And the latest opinion polls show that the population of Ukraine is largely disappointed that the promises that allowed Zelensky to gain such a large number of votes in the elections are not being fulfilled. Therefore, Putin did not say anything fundamentally new. He expressed not so much the Kremlin’s position as the sentiments that exist in Ukrainian society today,” the political scientist said.
