Putin and Erdogan have not forgiven each other – expert
Vladimir Putin and Recep Erdogan did not forgive each other, but decided to develop relations between Russia and Turkey for the benefit of both countries. This opinion was expressed at a press conference in Moscow by Sergei Markov, a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

“This summit was a triumph of reason over feelings. Everyone could see that instead of positive chemistry between the presidents, there was negative physics. They sat far from each other and hardly looked at each other, almost did not smile. My feeling is that Putin still has not forgiven Erdogan for that stab in the back, and Erdogan still cannot forgive that he had to apologize, which is perceived quite sensitively and negatively in the East. But both leaders trampled on their feelings in the interests of their countries,” Markov said.
He stressed that it was fundamentally important for Russia to hear Erdogan’s apology, but not in order to humiliate the Turkish president.
“We needed it as part of the guarantee that no more Russian citizens would be killed. Otherwise, how can our tourists go there? They were forbidden to go there, not as a sign of revenge. Now the tourists will be returned,” Markov noted.
At the same time, the expert made a forecast that in a year the relations between Russia and Turkey will be better than they were before the crisis.
