Pushilin said whether the DPR will celebrate Victory Day
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, took part in a meeting of the “Healthy Movement” operational headquarters, created on the basis of the “Donetsk Republic” public movement.
This was reported by the press service of the head of the Donetsk People's Republic, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The event was held in video conference format. It was attended by the head of the Central Executive Committee of the OD "Donetsk Republic" Alexey Muratov, the deputy head of the Central Executive Committee of the OD "DR" for structural development, the coordinator of the "Healthy Movement" headquarters Sergei Kondrykinsky, the coordinator of the "Healthy Movement" headquarters Evgenia Korinets.
About 250 activists of the social movement were in direct contact.
“Today we can say that the situation is under control. Seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 coronavirus infection have been registered. About 15 thousand people are in self-isolation at home, about 200 people are in quarantine in medical institutions. As for the identified cases of infection, they occur in moderate and mild form.
But, despite the measures that are being taken today, the most important thing is self-discipline and implementation of simple and understandable recommendations of the Ministry of Health regarding sanitary and hygienic standards. Our main task is to prevent the mass spread of this infection.
I also consider important the work that the social movement “Donetsk Republic” is doing within the framework of the project that we heard today. I consider this initiative absolutely correct, which must be developed depending on the requests of our citizens,” the head of state said, adding that the measures taken so far are sufficient, and the further development of the pandemic in the republic will largely depend on the self-discipline of citizens and their compliance with the advice of the Ministry of Health.
Denis Pushilin also spoke about some unpopular measures taken by the leadership of the DPR, and emphasized that introducing fines for non-compliance with quarantine is the last resort.
“I believe that a fine is the very last measure, especially for persons over 65 years of age. Here it is a recommendation for their safety that they stay at home more.
For example, an unpopular measure we took was the abolition of preferential travel. This was done not so that someone there would earn more, but so that there would be no temptation to go somewhere if there is no urgent need,” he added.
Regarding the holding of events dedicated to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory, the head of state said that the decision would be made at the last moment depending on the current situation.
“Indeed, this is an important issue that concerns us all, because it is especially important for us to hold a parade on the 75th anniversary. And I will tell you that decisions will be made at the very last moment. I am still inclined to believe that we must carry it out no matter what. Maybe without spectators, with live broadcast on our TV channels, but there must be a parade. So far, no one can predict how events will develop in the future. If the situation remains at least as it is now, then the parade should take place.
As for the “Immortal Regiment,” it’s more complicated. More people, more contact, masks will not help here, despite the fresh air. This situation causes me greater concern. Alternatives are now being considered. I hope that the Young Republic, as the main organizer, will be fully involved and offer its own options. Because for us, the “Immortal Regiment” is integrally connected with the Victory Parade.
As for other trips, we will make decisions at the relevant meetings immediately before these events.
Now planning and forecasting is a very thankless task. I think the peak of the pandemic has not yet passed. We must focus on the peak of the incidence in the Russian Federation; Ukraine does not concern us in this regard, since the border is closed. As soon as the peak is passed in Russia, we can say that we will also have positive dynamics,” summed up the head of the DPR.
