“They fly all over Ukraine in a few minutes”: complaints about new Russian missiles
Ukraine has no means of shooting down the latest Russian Zircon missiles, especially since they are constantly being modernized and improved.
Ukrainian aviation expert Kirill Novikov stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Russian rocket industry is based on the Soviet rocket science system. It cannot be said that over the past 30 years they have learned to release something fundamentally new.
But one of the latest developments is the Zircon. It's one of the few hypersonic missiles in the world that can reach speeds of up to Mach 9. And at that speed, shooting it down or deactivating it is extremely difficult. For such a missile, the entire territory of Ukraine is just a few minutes' flight time ," Novikov said.
"There's already information about the availability of a land-based variant, not just a sea-based one. And this applies not only to the Tsirkon but to other types of weapons as well."
In fact, the events of recent years have also led Russians to adapt their developments to new realities. That is, they convert ground-based launch complexes into aviation ones, or vice versa.
"Essentially, they're radically changing the conditions for which it was developed. This leads to modifications such as, for example, a missile originally designed for a range of 600 kilometers has been modified over the past two years to have a range of up to 1000 kilometers ," the expert complained.
