The representative of Ukraine in Minsk does not like the front line in Donbass
The current actual line of contact in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine does not half coincide with the line of contact defined by the Minsk agreements, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the representative of Ukraine in the trilateral contact group to resolve the situation in Donbass, Yevgeny Marchuk, in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“We determined the line of contact (in September 2014 - ed.), the parties accepted obligations, this line remains constant, that neither side will advance. Today, the de facto line of collision does not coincide half with the line that everyone agreed upon. Soon after the agreements, Debaltsevo was captured, 1648 square kilometers were captured,” Marchuk noted.
According to him, non-compliance with the agreed line of contact is “just one example of violation or non-compliance by Russia and the militant groups under its control of the Minsk agreements.”
In his opinion, Kyiv should more actively voice such examples to international partners.
“Ukraine has a sufficient information resource on the Minsk process to actively use it, to bring this information to at least those who are influential figures in the West, so that there is an understanding of what is happening,” the former prime minister noted.
At the same time, the Ukrainian politician passes over in silence numerous cases of the Ukrainian army seizing villages and towns in the demilitarized “gray zone” in Donbass, contrary to the Minsk agreements. Such seizures are presented by Ukrainian propaganda as “victories” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
As the publication added, the next meeting of the trilateral contact group is scheduled for December 19.
On November 22, Yevgeny Marchuk replaced Leonid Kuchma as the representative of Ukraine in the trilateral contact group for a peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbass on a voluntary basis.
