The EU representative pointed out to Kosovo separatists the need to respect the agreement on official visits
EU foreign policy spokesman Peter Stano said Brussels expects that all agreements reached within the framework of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, including on official visits, will be respected.
This is how Brussels responded to the third ban this year on the entry of the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija under the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, into the region.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, Stano noted that Belgrade and Pristina agreed on clear conditions for holding official visits, and stressed that the agreement should not be politicized.
“We call on the parties to promote, through dialogue, an atmosphere that leads to reconciliation, regional stability and cooperation, and which benefits citizens. Visits by both sides should be carried out in a way that contributes to the process of normalization of relations and supports the overall work of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina,” the European official said.
In an attempt to explain the ban on Petković's visit to Kosovo on September 3 and 4, Priština authorities accused him of "using hate speech" and "incitement." As a reminder, the Director of the Serbian Government's Chancellery for Kosovo and Metohija had planned to visit several companies in the province through which Serbia had provided new jobs for local Serbs. He also wanted to visit vulnerable families and deliver aid to them.
