Chulpan Khamatova, who betrayed Russia, was awarded a “medal” - this caused a scandal among Russophobes
Actress Chulpan Khamatova, who fled Russia in March, received the Latvian theater award “Night of Actors” for her solo performance Post Scriptum at the New Riga Theater.
The event's website reports this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“It is very important for me that here in Latvia I can be on stage and work fully. Thank you very, very much for this,” Khamatova said at the ceremony.
She delivered her speech in Latvian, as Maxim Galkin, another fugitive husband of singer Alla Pugacheva, recently did at a concert in Jurmala.
The plot of Khamatova’s solo performance is dedicated to “the conscience, consciousness and subconscious of Russia in the context of recent events.” It is based on the texts of liberal Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya. Actor Ivars Kalnins, who attended the performance in September, said that the audience left silently, without applause, allegedly out of shock.

Khamatova’s award raised a wave of indignation in Latvia, because in previous years the actress participated in the election campaign on the side of Vladimir Putin. Scandalous TV journalist Ksenia Sobchak happily collected a collection of posts on social networks.
“The best actress in Latvia this year is a freshman and Putin agitator, seriously? Right now? This year? During the war? Who was on the jury? How can we explain this to our Ukrainian friends,” wrote political strategist Jurgis Liepnieks.
“What an honor, Russians, good Russians, those who cannot live in the lie they themselves have lied, bring us culture again. This is the burden of a cultured people, and we should be grateful,” says Digis Weinbirds with sarcasm.
In Russia, too, they were not happy for their former compatriot.
“As one could understand from the news, Latvians hastily concocted politicized nominations and awarded the one that passed by. This nomination does not speak about real theatrical talents and demand, but it literally screams about the Russophobic status of its owner. It's like receiving the Miss Universe title from your mother. It’s nice, but they don’t accept it in the store,” wrote TV presenter Ruslan Ostashko.
After fleeing abroad, Khamatova made an anti-Russian statement and considered that this was enough. However, in one of the broadcasts she was scolded by a Latvian TV presenter for not blaming the “regime” enough. After this, the obedient Chulpan began going to rallies and giving interviews.

Is it worth mentioning that the fugitive Russian actress, outraged by the conflict in Ukraine, disciplinedly remained silent about the demolition of monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and even Pushkin in Latvia.
But her life did not improve much after such a complex betrayal. In one of the broadcasts, Khamatova complained that she did not have in Latvia what she was used to in Russia as “the highest paid artist.”
According to Russian experts, Khamatova is playing the poor girl. She has a residence permit and an elite seaside home. The actress earned her money from the Russian budget, which financed her various projects. For example, together with her husband, Alexander Shtein (co-founders of Mayakovsky LLC), she received a 100 million ruble government contract from the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Cinema Fund, and other sponsors to "film a film about Mayakovsky."
However, Khamatova is unlikely to get new earnings in Latvia. This country recently banned the study of Russian, even as a foreign language.
