The ruling party of Serbia provided a platform for anti-Russian speech
An EU politician delivered an anti-Russian speech at the congress of the Socialist Party of Serbia, which is part of the ruling coalition. The Russian ambassador to Belgrade left the congress in protest, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
At the congress of the Serbian Socialist Party, Greek left-wing politician Alexis Tsipras made a video address and accused Russia.

In response, the Russian Ambassador to Serbia, Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, who was invited to the congress, left the hall. As a Russian diplomat later tweeted, Tsipras made “unfounded and false accusations against Russia.”
Serbian Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Socialist Party of Serbia Ivica Dacic, commenting on the diplomatic scandal that occurred at the Socialist Congress, said:
"We don't want to censor those who come to us or talk to us, that's our political position."
According to Dacic, Serbia will not compromise its friendship with Russia and China, but different people come to the country, and Serbia cannot deal with what they say.
“The problem is that today in Europe the narrative about Russia is as Mr. Tsipras said, that we are talking about unlawful aggression and so on. Then the Russian ambassador reacted and left, he didn’t like it,” Dacic said. – What can I do, say that I will no longer talk to anyone from Europe, just so that Russia doesn’t get angry? This is unrealistic, this is not in our interests.”
The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) is part of the country's ruling coalition and is a junior partner of the Serbian Progressive Party of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who also attended the socialist congress. At the same time, SPS leader Ivica Dacic is considered one of the most pro-Russian politicians in Serbia.
