Azerbaijan's losses in Karabakh turned out to be too serious
During the current battles for Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani troops are adhering to new tactics.
Military expert and editor of the information resource "World Today" Yuri Podolyaka told Moskovsky Komsomolets about this, as reported by a correspondent of "PolitNavigator" .
“Azerbaijan adheres to new tactics, which it came to after intense and bloody battles for Hadrut on October 15 and 16. Its meaning boils down to small reconnaissance groups trying to get as close as possible and testing the defenses with reconnaissance in force. If the resistance is strong, the group retreats to another line, where it again imposes a firefight. In case of weak resistance, mobile detachments, reinforced with light armor, immediately rush there, and then the main forces develop the offensive,” said MK’s interlocutor.
However, he makes a reservation that there is no need to talk about the “inevitable imminent” victory of Azerbaijan either.
“His army is also suffering heavy losses. In the north of Karabakh, in the Martakert region, Baku is still mired in the defense of the Nagorno-Karabakh resistance forces. According to the military of both countries, heavy losses have been recorded there for several days in a row. The landscape benefits the defending Armenian troops here: the mountains do not allow the 1st Army Corps of Azerbaijan to use heavy equipment to break through,” the expert notes.
According to him, if “Azerbaijan continues to rush through breakthroughs and attacks, it may end up in a situation where successes at the front turn into failure, because there will be nothing to maintain its positions.”
“At the same time, Baku fears the war will drag on,” Podolyaka added.
