Poroshenko introduced hetman-style prosecutorial supervision
All Poroshenko’s statements about the supposed successes of decentralization are crossed out by his own initiative to introduce prefects as representatives of the state.
This statement was made by the head of the Ukrainian public organization “Public Audit” Maxim Goldarb on the air of the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What does Poroshenko’s “decentralization” imply? By and large, today they have only slightly changed the ratio of the revenue parts of the state and regional budgets. And it's all. They gave nothing different to today’s regions,” Goldarb said.
“All the tinsel about the fact that he is for decentralization is crossed out by his own project, according to which he is going to appoint prefects to the regions who are not under the control of local authorities, with the ability to suspend any decision of the local authority for an indefinite period. They cannot be held accountable in the territory where they are prefects.
That is, this is the same notorious Soviet prosecutorial supervision, only in an exaggerated hetman style. What Ukraine refuses, Poroshenko wants to return. That’s what “decentralization” is all about, the human rights activist is sure.
"He didn't have time for this? He did! He had five years, and now he's starting to tell us that he has a clear idea of what to do for the next five years ( ed. ). And what did you do during those five years?" Goldarb remarked sarcastically.
