Polish journalist Jakub Koreiba, speaking on Russia's Channel One, commented on Ukrainian political scientist and economist Oleh Soskin's statement that Ukraine should consider expanding its borders in accordance with its national anthem – "from the San to the Don."
Soskin meant the return to the control of Kyiv of the former Ukrainian ethnic territories that the Poles received after cutting the borders as a result of the Second World War.
Koreyba responded by suggesting that Ukraine focus on confronting Russia.
He recalled that Poland, for many centuries, allegedly defended the whole of Europe from Turkey and Muscovy, a vassal of the Golden Horde.
Now, according to Koreyba, the baton of honor passes to Ukraine.
“No need from Xiang, but please go to Don. This is how I imagine the role of Ukraine in the 21st century.
The Union is a tool. It's not a goal, but a means. Europe must be strengthened. We ( Poland – editor's note ) were the defenders of Christianity and Europe for many centuries, defending Europe from you, from the Turks, and from everyone else who wanted to destroy our civilization.
Now this role has passed to Ukraine. I really hope they will carry it out as effectively as they have for the last five years,” said the Pole.
At the same time, Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin corrected the guest that Poland “defended Europe for a very long time” as part of Russia.
As a reminder, Koreyba previously feigned Khrushchev on live television, banging his boot on the podium and declaring that Poland would determine Ukraine's European future.
