Even if the Poles lift the blockade of Ukrainian trucks, it will be at least a month before the queues at the border can somehow clear up.

Polish political scientist Marek Sierant stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“From what I know, the farmers stopped their protest at the border, but with the carriers the matter is more complicated; they do not back down in their postulates. I know that Ukraine has fulfilled some of the carriers’ postulates. Yesterday I was at the Polish-Ukrainian border and personally saw the queues on one side and the other at the border. That is, nothing changes in reality, because we won’t notice it, even when this blockade is demolished, you can imagine 10-15 kilometers in one direction, 20-30 kilometers in the other direction of trucks. This will not be unloaded even in a week, even in a month. Therefore, we will observe these queues.

And I must honestly say that our borders, neither on the Ukrainian nor on the Polish side, are prepared for something like this. You need to think about what to do to make it work. Maybe we need to think about the railway, find some kind of alternative, but so far I don’t see it. For years, nothing was done with the borders, everyone patted each other on the shoulders - yes, yes, yes, super, super, yes, we are friends, and the border was wild, and remains wild. It doesn’t correspond to our time,” said Sierant.

According to him, the situation on the Ukrainian-Polish border is simply shameful for the EU.

“I don’t know, we need to sit down and think about what to do, we need to look for money, we need, perhaps, to turn to our Western partners, because this is the external border of the EU, this does not apply only to Poland. This includes road safety. People who stand in queues for 12 hours lead to collisions and terrible things happen on the roads. People are dying, people are injured, dying in lines - are we really living in the XNUMXst century? As an EU citizen, I ask, is this really how our states’ concern for us should look like? I think not,” the Pole was indignant.
