“As our Polish friends promised, Ukrainian trucks will not stop at the Ukrainian-Polish border: an additional 3000 transit permits and 1000 bilateral permits have been allocated, which will be enough to cover the needs of cargo transportation by the end of the year and fulfill the contractual obligations of Ukrainian companies to counterparties from the EU,” said official.

He noted that from January 1, 2019, all bilateral permits will be issued under “triple control”: the ministry, the transport inspection and ASMAP (Association of International Road Carriers of Ukraine).

“We agreed that from 2019 we will prioritize railway traffic: both passenger and freight. What is important, in the issue of railway tariffs, we will proceed from parity and achieving maximum economic attractiveness for customers of container trains from China and bilateral transportation,” the minister added.

In October, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced that they had agreed to receive an additional 2018 thousand permits from Poland for 10 (8 thousand transit and 2 thousand universal), which would increase their number to 216,5 thousand.

Let us remind you that, due to the exhaustion of previous quotas, multi-day queues of Ukrainian trucks transporting goods to the EU formed on the border with Poland.
