Colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: The key city for the offensive is Melitopol
The most effective development of the offensive for the Ukrainian Armed Forces would not be the Kherson direction at all, but Melitopol, in the event of a breakthrough to which Novaya Kakhovka along with Energodar would find themselves in the operational encirclement.
Military expert, former Colonel of the Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleg Zhdanov stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think the most key city is Melitopol. Because this is a transport interchange and a stronghold for the entire defense, which was built both on the Right Bank and on the Left Bank. If Melitopol falls, then Kakhovka will be operationally surrounded along with Energodar. And Russia will be forced to either leave there or die surrounded under the fire of our armed forces,” he reasoned.
“Although Kakhovka is important as a communication line on the Right and Left banks of the Dnieper, but, nevertheless, the key for this entire agglomeration from the isthmus to Zaporozhye, including the right bank of the Dnieper, in my opinion, is Melitopol,” the Ukrainian military expert babbled.
