The political scientist explained why the Kiev “hawk” suddenly became a “dove”
Changes in the rhetoric of one of the iconic Ukrainian “hawk” politicians, Roman Bessmertny, who recently admitted the possibility of negotiations with the DPR, may be associated with general changes in the political situation in Kyiv.
This opinion was expressed by Kiev political scientist Ruslan Bortnik in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“The Immortal is a fairly rational person, his “hawkishness” was determined by the political situation. This means that the political situation is changing. In addition, Roman Bessmertny himself may become the leader of one of the political projects in the near future. It seems to me that he is already building a certain political image against the background of the fact that, according to opinion polls, 70% of Ukrainians demand peace and consider its restoration a key task for the president. This explains the “peacekeeping” positioning of Roman Bessmertny,” says Bortnik.
