"Let Karayev ( former Minister of Internal Affairs, Inspector for the Grodno Region – ed. ) don a general's uniform. You ( the governor of the Grodno Region – ed. ) have also been awarded the rank of major general, and go ahead. Martial law, if necessary, but there must be no resignation. We must show those scoundrels on the other side of the border that their sanctions are proof of their impotence. And we will do it," Lukashenko said.

He intends to introduce martial law if there is a threat of “subsidence” of industrial enterprises in Belarus by the end of the year.

“We were preparing for this, we knew what was facing us. There should be no subsidence at any enterprise,” Lukashenko said.

He was assured that “measures have been developed to compensate” for the loss of the European market, which “is not the main one.”
