Pogrebinsky spoke about a farewell gift from Poroshenko
Today it is completely unclear who will replace Vladimir Groysman as head of the Ukrainian government, who announced that he was resigning and promised not to remain in office even in an acting capacity.
Kyiv political experts stated this in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“Apparently, Groysman really intended to leave the government. And this is a kind of “farewell gift” from Poroshenko and his team. In addition, Groysman himself does not want to become a scapegoat. Moreover, difficult negotiations with the IMF are now ahead. It is not at all clear who will replace him. Perhaps it will be a person from the current cabinet of ministers,” says Mikhail Pogrebinsky, director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology.
And according to political scientist Kirill Molchanov? Groysman needs more free time to organize his election campaign to the Verkhovna Rada.
“And he decided to be the first to escape from the sinking ship to form his own party... His place in the government will be taken by the first deputy prime minister. No one will nominate a new head of government in the last days before the elections; there will not be enough votes in parliament for this,” Molchanov believes.
As PolitNavigator reported, Groysman heeded President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's advice during his inauguration speech to parliament and immediately submitted a resignation letter.
At the same time, he admitted that he intends to become a member of parliament.
As a reminder, President Zelenskyy issued a decree calling early elections to the Verkhovna Rada , which will take place on July 21.
