The arrested activist's defense team previously asked the court to release him on the personal surety of Refat Kenzhaliev, former chairman of the Republican Committee for Nationalities and Deported Citizens of Crimea and former deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. However, the court decided not to change his pretrial detention, 15 Minutes reports.
It is worth noting that Sebat has always sharply criticized the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars, unconditionally supported the events of the Crimean Spring and participated in the referendum on March 16. Seydamet Gemedzhi was one of the Crimean Tatar speakers in the news releases of the Rossiya 24 information channel.
In recent months, Sebat has criticized the law "On the provision of land plots in state or municipal ownership, and certain issues of land relations" adopted by the State Council of Crimea.
